Shannon Brown is the Firm’s civil procedure specialist. She has nearly twenty years of litigation experience in both the public and private sector. For over the past decade, Shannon has clerked in the federal court system, working primarily with the then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina. As a senior member of the judicial staff, she screened civil complaints and habeas petitions, researched and drafted judicial opinions, and addressed numerous procedural matters. Prior to clerking, Shannon was in private practice with the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher, & Flom in New York, New York, Maupin Taylor, Ellis & Adams in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Blakeney & Alexander (now McGuire Woods) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Shannon has authored articles on standing, and is responsible for the civil procedural aspects of Mortgage and Asset Backed Securities Litigation Handbook (West 2008).
